This is by far our most favorite and most evil flyer by BRIAN from Stuyvesant when we played one of our last Maxwells shows. Hurts to look at this. This was fucking Monday night show with Victory and associates. Thankfully it rocked very hard.
We are super honored to be able to help out a situation in this situation. We realize we’re not even on the same plain as Magnolia Electric Co was but none the less happy to contribute to the 39 songs put together by Steven Vineis from the band Blacks. As big fans of somebody’s ability to write as many amazing songs as Jason Molina did we could only hope to he as prolific as this man. All proceeds for this compilation go to the loved one’s he has left behind. Sincerely.
“Songs: Molina” – A Benefit Compilation for Jason Molina’s Survivors
When we recorded this track we thought it would be a good idea to make a video or something. This is actually the first cover we ever recorded in all our years playing together that we released. Sure we’ll whip into ‘web in front’ or bastardize a radiohead song at practice for a few bars in replacements style but this is one of those songs we wish we actually wrote. It’s short and to the point. Perfect. Who needs more? We shot a bunch of footage of recording this in Walt’s kitchen along with some new songs for our next album but it just didn’t feel right so here’s where we ended up to do our part. We never though “It Made Me Cry” would be the lead track! As personal as his songs are we thought it was apropos to do something with a home movie feel to it. So enjoy and support the compilation and his family. Thank you and remember to live your life in full because you never know.
It’s not often Walter gets to tell the editors of Rolling Stone something but on Doom’s Day Eastern Anchors were featured on RollingStone.com Daily Download with our song “Leading with your right” but it happened. The photo was taken just for this bit of press by our good friend and fashion and lifestyle photographer Roderick Angle. There’s a couple more photos from that session on our contact page if you want to check them out. He made the band look fairly handsome but still 90’ish.
If you are not already please follow us on twitter or stalk our facebook page for the latest on what we’re wearing and saying…

I guess we need to see who can make the worse flyer to end this contest.
Going back like 15 years Walter wrote “Red 5 (Standing by)” for our old band Aviso’Hara. We subsequently recorded the song about 3 times and never imagined that the little raw guitar notes would end up in public service announcement about saving trees. The band was always about slaying them down with our wood axes but alas in our more mature years we are humbly flattered that film maker Lorena Cejudo asked us to contribute a tune to her project. Plant a tree not just on earth day!

The band recently donated a couple songs to two Sandy Hurricane Benefit music compilations. Please support these. We know everybody is doing what they can so every little bit hopefully will do some good and rebuild our shores. We all were affected in some way and it’s going to be many years before things will be repaired. There will probably be a lot of back room deals from the Billions of dollars that are needed to do the job. These comps go directly to help people in need while we wait for the re-construction.
